Why are you Christian?

When I meet a new people, I always say that I am a Christian. As an ambassador of JESUS CHRIST it is very important to represent him everywhere. But above all, every moment is good to talk about this unconditional love without it looking like evangelism. And then… Atheists almost always throw the same questions in my face. How come an intellectual like you believes? Isn’t that old-fashioned? Why are you a practicing Christian?

Yes, it is necessary to specify practicing Christian. Because in 2021 people still think that you can be a Christian and not practice this “religion”. The quotation marks are there to specify that Christianity is not a religion but a RELATIONSHIP. It’s like saying I’m a professional basketball player but I’ve never touched a basketball. You can’t call yourself a Christian and not “practice”. It’s impossible because God’s love is so powerful that it will make you bend your knees despite yourself.

Because of the Love of GOD

To the question how come I believe in GOD? The first answer that comes to me is “I love Him because He first loved me”.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3 :16

This Bible verse speaks to us of this undeserved love for sinners. The Gospels and the whole New Testament confirm it. In His tender affection the Father took what was dearest to Him and sacrificed it for us. Our Christian belief exists because God exists. Because we believe that Jesus died for us. While we were greedy, thieves, murderers and deserving of suffering, this Saint came close to us, loved us.

Having this Almighty being in front of me who loves me despite my transgressions. Forgives me every time I sin knowingly or unknowingly. He who believes in me when I don’t believe in myself or in HIM. He who carries me in His heart. If HE loves me it means that HE wants my happiness. So why not offer him unconditional love in return? Why not partner with HIM to succeed in all my endeavors? For by his love he promises me this in Joshua 1:8. This is why I have faith in God.

But there is an answer concerning my faith that I hold dear.

I think if it weren’t for my Christian faith, I would have gone nuts by now. It is my bedrock. Believing in GOD allows me to always hope for better days when I’m not doing well. And it helps me stay humble when things are going well in my life. To love everyone as I would like to be loved. This faith helps me to become a better person a better daughter sister friend.

Today we call the bible outdated. But the best life coaches give advice that is straight out of the Bible. Human rights are derived from the 10 commandments of God. So Christianity is still relevant today.

Why am I a Christian? Because once you’ve tasted God, you can’t find a similar or better flavor elsewhere. God is the perfect being who comes down and understands the imperfect that we are without judging it. It is the absolute love, the perfect love, the best employer. Jesus says it well in John 4: 13: “If anyone drinks of this water, he will still be thirsty. But if he drinks the water that I will give him, he will never thirst again. Instead, the water I give him will become a spring in him, and that spring gives life with God forever.”

By His word, Jesus shows us that by becoming a Christian, we taste something more than pleasant. Something that we will not find anywhere else. The day I tasted the happiness that the Church, the Bible promised me, I understood that I could only be a full-time Christian. But most of all I love to love GOD.
